Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process on 'Pause'

-->

US Secretary of State John Kerry announced Thursday that he decided to take a pause to re-evaluate the possible steps in the Israel-Palestinian peace process, adding that he will make public the "progress" made during the nine months of peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

At a news conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Kerry said that both parties still believe they should continue with the negotiations and to find a solution to the core issues: borders, Jerusalem, refugees, security, and settlements.

Kerry added that Washington "believes the best thing to do right now is pause, take a hard look at these things, and find out what is possible and what is not possible in the days ahead. As I have consistently said, I think peace is to the benefit of both parties – benefit of Israel, and benefit of the Palestinians."
