TOKYO —Japanese convenience store FamilyMart is installing charging stations for next‐generation vehicles (EV, Electric Vehicle/ PHE, Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) at roughly 500 of its stores all over Japan after this summer.
As of this month, 34 FamilyMart stores already have charging stations installed.
As FamilyMart increases the number of charging stations, they will make big use of governmental assistance for infrastructure improvement for next‐generation vehicles and also assistance by 4 of the major Japanese car production companies including Toyota, Nissan, Honda, and Mitsubishi.
